Powergrid approves Rs 1,227 crore capex, commissions transmission project in Odisha-Andhra Pradesh
State-owned company PowerGrid Corporation is planning a capital expenditure of Rs 1,226.93 crore. In an exchange filing, the company stated that its Board of Directors has approved the capex for the refurbishment of the existing Bhadrawati High Voltage Direct Current installation. 
Skipper plans to expand production capacity by 60% by FY28

RE capacity addition on the fast track; grid bottlenecks, PPA delays pose risks
India made further headway in the renewable energy (RE) sector in the past year, with total RE capacity reaching 262.7 gigawatt (GW) as of November in the current fiscal year 2025-26. That is more than half of the total installed electricity generation capacity.

RE finance required for battery storage, transmission, green hydrogen: MNRE
The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) informed Parliament on Wednesday that the country needs to mobilise finances for battery storage, transmission infrastructure, green hydrogen and offshore wind power projects. Over the last five financial years, around ₹7.16 lakh crore has been deployed in the Renewable Energy (RE) sector by public sector banks, IREDA, PFC, REC, SIDBI, IIFCL and NaBFID.
REIAs to aggregate demand from Discoms, consumers before floating tenders: MNRE
The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) informed Parliament on Wednesday that it has advised renewable energy implement agencies (REIAs) to consult Discoms and consumers for aggregating power demand before floating tenders. The exercise is in response to challenges faced in encouraging Discoms to sign Power Sale Agreements (PSAs) for stranded renewable energy projects, which are around 43.9 gigawatts (GW) as of September 2025.

BARC designing small modular nuclear reactors: Govt
The department of atomic energy (DAE) informed Parliament on Wednesday that Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) has initiated design and development works on small modular reactors (SMRs), that are central to India’s plan to augment nuclear energy capacity.
Lok Sabha passes nuclear energy Bill
Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed a Bill that would allow private sector participation in the country’s nuclear power sector. Calling it a “milestone legislation”, Union minister Jitendra Singh said that the Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India (SHANTI) Bill, would help the country achieve its target of 100 giga watts (GW) of nuclear capacity by 2047.

Rupee sees largest single day recovery since October 15- Closes at 90.38 per dollar
The Indian rupee today finally saw a pause in the free fall seen in past few sessions.  The currency closed at 90.38 against the US Dollar, up 0.7% from its previous close of 91.02. This marked the best single-day rise posted by the Indian rupee since October 15.
